Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have emphasized the importance of collective efforts to safeguard the environment, advocate for the responsible use of natural resources, and ensure a safer and more resilient Pakistan for future generations. In their separate messages on World Environment Day, they reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to international collaboration on climate and environmental issues.

According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari expressed support for initiatives focusing on ecosystem restoration, renewable energy, disaster preparedness, and climate-resilient development. He urged citizens to conserve water, minimize waste, protect forests, preserve biodiversity, and encourage the use of cleaner energy sources.

Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the theme of this year’s World Environment Day, “Climate Action,” underscoring the need for urgent, coordinated global efforts to tackle environmental challenges. He emphasized that such action is vital for addressing the complex issues facing humanity.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, in his message, stressed the need for enhanced international cooperation to combat the interconnected challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation. He reiterated the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to prioritizing environmental protection through policies that advance climate-resilient housing, accelerate the shift to clean energy, and promote sustainable construction practices.
