President and Prime Minister Reaffirm Commitment to Press Freedom

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have reiterated the Government’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting press freedom. On World Press Freedom Day, both leaders emphasized the importance of a free and independent media in fostering a well-informed citizenry.

According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari urged citizens to reject misinformation and support credible journalism. In his message, he highlighted the critical role that truthful reporting plays in shaping public opinion and maintaining a healthy democracy. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sharif assured that the Government would provide a conducive environment for media professionals to operate without hindrance. He stressed that the timely dissemination of accurate, impartial, and unbiased information remains the cornerstone of credible journalism, and is essential for informed decision-making by the public.
