PML-N Secures Majority in AJK Legislative Assembly Elections


ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has achieved a simple majority to establish a government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), according to statements made by Rana Sanaullah Khan, Adviser on Political Affairs. The PML-N has won 23 out of 45 seats in the AJK Legislative Assembly elections, marking a significant political victory.



According to Radio Pakistan, Rana Sanaullah Khan announced the election results during a news conference in Islamabad, joined by Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam. The PML-N secured four of the seven contested seats in the Muzaffarabad Division, with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) winning the remaining three. Additionally, on the 12 refugee seats, the PML-N claimed victory in 10, while the PPP won two.



Rana Sanaullah Khan emphasized that the elections were conducted freely and fairly. Amir Muqam, Minister for Kashmir Affairs, described the elections as a triumph for democracy, assuring that the promises made to the people of AJK regarding the region’s progress and development will be honored.
