Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed officials to develop a detailed gas load management plan for the upcoming winter season, emphasizing the need for early preparation to address energy needs efficiently. This directive came during a meeting focused on winter energy planning held in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of a public awareness campaign to inform citizens about the gas load management strategy. He also highlighted the necessity of securing uninterrupted gas imports, especially considering the current regional circumstances. The plan prioritizes domestic consumers for locally produced gas, while Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) is allocated primarily for power generation and industrial use.
The meeting also discussed promoting alternative energy sources for households to reduce reliance on locally supplied gas. Efforts are underway to ensure the smooth transmission of gas from reserves in the northern areas. Additionally, a proposal is being considered to introduce bank financing facilities for electric appliances used for water and space heating, aiming to encourage the adoption of alternative energy solutions.
