Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and UN Chief Discuss Peace and Security Issues

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres in Islamabad to discuss regional and global issues, focusing on peace and security. The dialogue addressed situations in Palestine, Jammu & Kashmir, Afghanistan, counter-terrorism, and the future of multilateralism.

According to Radio Pakistan, Deputy Prime Minister Dar briefed the UN Secretary-General on Pakistan’s stance regarding Jammu & Kashmir and the Indus Waters Treaty. He reiterated Pakistan’s call for a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir conflict, in line with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The discussions also highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and reduce tensions, including facilitating the Islamabad Talks between the United States and Iran. Dar emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as the most effective means of resolving disputes.

The UN Secretary-General expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s longstanding contributions to the United Nations and its efforts in promoting dialogue, mediation, and de-escalation in international conflicts.
