Petroleum Minister Discusses Energy Security and Investment Opportunities with Industry Leaders


Karachi: Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik engaged with key leaders from the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) in Karachi, focusing on developments in Pakistan’s petroleum sector, energy security, and investment opportunities.



According to Press Information Department, during the meeting at OICCI, Minister Malik discussed the government’s initiatives to bolster exploration, modernize refining infrastructure, and implement reforms in the petroleum sector. He emphasized efforts aimed at enhancing energy security, including initiatives for bonded storage and strategic petroleum reserves. The Minister expressed a commitment to creating a competitive and investment-friendly petroleum sector to meet Pakistan’s long-term energy needs.



OICCI members highlighted the importance of policy consistency, tax frameworks, transparency, and security to boost investor confidence. Yousaf Hussain, President of OICCI, acknowledged the importance of the petroleum sector to Pakistan’s economy and welcomed the Minister’s engagement with the business community. M. Abdul Aleem, Chief Executive and Secretary General of OICCI, stressed the need for a predictable regulatory environment to facilitate long-term investment decisions.



In a separate meeting with PSO’s management, discussions centered on national energy security, supply chain resilience, strategic storage expansion, and digital transformation. Minister Malik praised PSO for its role in maintaining fuel supply stability and reiterated the government’s support for modernization efforts aimed at strengthening energy security and enhancing operational efficiency.
