Islamabad: Aiming to enhance transparency and predictability in fuel pricing, Pakistan’s Petroleum Pricing Committee has recommended June 2027 as the target for deregulating petrol prices. The move is expected to transition petrol pricing toward a competitive and market-driven system.
According to Radio Pakistan, the committee convened under the leadership of Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and discussed recommendations designed to improve market efficiency while shielding consumers from sudden price fluctuations. The committee’s final report, which is anticipated to outline a detailed framework for the proposed changes, will be submitted to the Prime Minister shortly.
The shift toward deregulation is seen as a significant step in aligning petrol prices more closely with global market trends, potentially influencing both the domestic energy market and consumer expenses.
