Pakistan’s UN Envoy Calls for Peaceful Resolution of South Asian Disputes

New York: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, emphasized the importance of peaceful dispute resolution for durable stability in South Asia. In a statement marking the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, he highlighted the significance of national strength and strategic clarity.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ahmed reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national dignity, describing them as sacred and non-negotiable. He paid tribute to the Armed Forces of Pakistan for their role in defending the nation against unprovoked aggression, acknowledging their courage and professionalism.

Ahmed underscored Pakistan’s desire for peace, stressing that it cannot be achieved through the denial of international law or unilateral actions. He stated that the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in line with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, is crucial for lasting stability in the region.
