Pakistan’s Finance Minister Discusses Economic Growth and Banking Innovations with Standard Chartered Executives


Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, held a meeting with the Group Chief Executive of Standard Chartered Bank PLC, Mr. Bill Winters, focusing on supporting Pakistan’s economic initiatives and exploring new financial opportunities.



According to Press Information Department, during the meeting, Mr. Winters lauded the Pakistani government’s efforts towards stabilizing the economy and recognized the improvements in macroeconomic indicators. He expressed Standard Chartered’s commitment to assisting Pakistan in accessing international capital markets and proposed the introduction of new financial products suited to Pakistan’s market needs.



Minister Aurangzeb highlighted the government’s strategies for enhancing economic growth, including streamlining processes and creating a stable regulatory environment. He also noted the strong performance of Pakistan’s stock market and foreign exchange reserves. Discussions included potential cooperation in climate financing, and support for small and medium enterprises and youth entrepreneurship, aligning with Pakistan’s goals for inclusive economic development.
