Pakistan’s Economic Stability and International Standing See Significant Improvement, Says Deputy Prime Minister

LONDON: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, announced a notable enhancement in the country’s economic stability and international standing during a recent address to the Pakistani community in London. He emphasized the government’s strategic shift from merely achieving stability to fostering sustainable growth, highlighting improvements in areas such as inflation control and international diplomacy.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ishaq Dar detailed the country’s progress from a precarious economic position to achieving macroeconomic stability. He noted a significant decrease in inflation from approximately thirty percent to single digits and a substantial reduction in the policy rate from a peak of twenty-two percent. On the diplomatic front, he underscored Pakistan’s election to the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member, receiving one hundred and eighty-two votes, as a testament to its enhanced international support.

The Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted Pakistan’s active diplomatic role in international issues, including the situation in Gaza. He stated that Pakistan is increasingly recognized as a positive security provider and for its contributions to global peace and stability. Acknowledging the vital role of overseas Pakistanis, Dar praised their economic contributions through remittances, which have exceeded forty billion dollars annually, thereby bolstering the country’s foreign exchange reserves.

Dar encouraged further investments from overseas Pakistanis through formal channels such as Roshan Digital Accounts. He also mentioned the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement signed with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, emphasizing its defensive nature and potential for future expansion. Concluding his address, the Foreign Minister called for ongoing national unity and engagement to elevate Pakistan to greater heights on the global stage.
