Pakistan’s Economic Affairs Ministry Initiates EDCF Country Programme with EXIM Bank Korea

Islamabad, The Ministry of Economic Affairs, led by Federal Minister Mr. Ahad Khan Cheema, hosted the kickoff meeting for the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) Country Programme Mission with EXIM Bank Korea, focusing on enhancing cooperation in development projects.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting convened key stakeholders, including Mr. Bonhyun Koo, Director of the Asia Team at EXIM Bank, and featured discussions on the progress of seven ongoing projects worth US$ 522 million across sectors such as road infrastructure, IT, and health. Minister Cheema acknowledged the support from the Government of the Republic of Korea and expressed hopes for the full utilization of the US$ 1,000 million committed under the recent Framework Arrangement (2022-26).

He highlighted that 10 pipeline projects have been shared with the EDCF and their prompt implementation is anticipated. Looking forward, Minister Cheema outlined new priority projects in sectors like ICT, climate change, construction, and transport. He concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with the EDCF and optimizing project efficiency and implementation.
