ISLAMABAD, Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, has strongly criticized India for allegedly violating all norms and conventions of human rights in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). His statement was made on the occasion of Human Rights Day, observed globally today.
According to Kashmir Media Service, PM Kakar pointed out that the situation in IIOJK has worsened following India’s actions on August 5, 2019, which he claims are aimed at demographic change and disenfranchising Kashmiris from their right to self-determination. He stated that these actions have led to increased oppression and suppression of the Kashmiri people’s basic rights, identity, and fundamental freedoms.
The caretaker prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s stance of calling for an end to egregious human rights abuses in the occupied territory. He affirmed Pakistan’s ongoing moral, diplomatic, and political support for the Kashmiri people in their struggle against what he describes as India’s tyranny, occupation, and oppression.
Kakar also emphasized the need for the international community to press India to grant Kashmiris their fundamental rights, including the right to self-determination, as outlined in the UN Security Council resolutions.
In addition to the situation in IIOJK, the caretaker prime minister highlighted the human rights crisis in Palestine. He condemned Israel for its actions in Gaza, which he claimed have led to thousands of casualties, including innocent women and children. He described Israel’s actions as a violation of human rights and international law.
PM Kakar called on the international community to intensify efforts for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and urged Israel to end its occupation of Palestine and grant the Palestinian people their right to self-determination.
