LAHORE: Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani emphasized Pakistan’s role as a responsible nuclear state and its continued efforts to promote global peace and regional stability. Addressing the Old Ravians Association’s 41st Annual Dinner, Gilani highlighted the importance of unity amidst global challenges such as climate change and technological advancement.
According to Senate of Pakistan, Gilani underscored the need for sustained global peace efforts, noting Pakistan’s responsible stance during conflicts with neighboring India, including its response to the unilateral revocation of the Indus Water Treaty. He highlighted Pakistan’s call for an independent inquiry into the Pahalgam incident, which went unanswered by India, and remarked on the international appreciation of Pakistan’s narrative. Gilani praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, particularly in mediating tensions between Iran and the United States, which have been recognized globally.
Gilani also reflected on his connection with Government College University Lahore, celebrating its legacy of producing leaders and thinkers contributing to national development. He encouraged the establishment of mentorship initiatives by the Old Ravians Association to support younger graduates, commending the association’s leadership and assuring them of his continued support. Concluding his remarks, Gilani urged alumni to remain engaged and committed to their alma mater, highlighting the enduring relationships and shared values fostered by the institution.
