Islamabad: Pakistan’s upcoming chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in 2027 is poised to enhance regional connectivity and economic cooperation across Eurasia, according to Sardar Masood Khan, a former ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, China, and the United Nations.
According to Radio Pakistan, Khan highlighted the potential of Pakistan’s leadership role during a webinar titled “Post-Bishkek SCO Summit 2026: Challenges and Pakistan’s Chairmanship,” organized by the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies. He emphasized that Pakistan could play a crucial role in linking the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor with Central Asian states, providing these nations with access to the Arabian Sea, thus fostering regional connectivity.
Khan further noted that the 2027 SCO Summit could act as a platform for enhancing economic and security cooperation, underscoring the organization’s expanding influence in shaping a multipolar world order.
