Islamabad, 03 Dec 2023: KORT, a Pakistani school dedicated to orphans affected by the 2005 earthquake, has been honored with the prestigious Zayed Sustainability Prize at the COP28 summit in Dubai. The award recognizes the school’s significant contribution to addressing climate-related challenges.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Zayed Sustainability Prize is an international award that commemorates the legacy of the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan. It is awarded to small and medium enterprises, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions that are making a meaningful impact on climate change.
Sumaiya Bibi, a student from KORT, received the award on behalf of the school, highlighting the global recognition of the institution’s efforts in providing education and support to children orphaned by natural disasters.
This achievement underscores the school’s commitment to sustainable practices and its role in fostering resilience and education among vulnerable children in Pakistan.
