Pakistani and Spanish Officials Meet to Deepen Bilateral Relations


Islamabad: A key meeting aimed at strengthening Pakistan-Spain relations was held today, chaired by Syed Ali Musa Gillani, Convener of the Pakistan-Spain Parliamentary Friendship Group. The meeting, attended by the Spanish Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Jose A. de Ory, focused on enhancing cooperation between the two nations.



According to a statement by National Assembly of Pakistan, the session was attended by several members of the National Assembly, along with senior officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Commerce. The focal points of the discussion included trade, education, tourism, and cultural exchange, with an emphasis on parliamentary diplomacy as a vehicle for fostering bilateral ties.



Mr. Gillani highlighted the historical friendship and shared values between Pakistan and Spain, noting that the relationship is underpinned by mutual respect and people-to-people connections. He acknowledged Spain’s support in maintaining Pakistan’s GSP+ status, which has been crucial for boosting Pakistani exports to the European Union.



Ambassador Ory expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reiterated Spain’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in achieving these goals and looked forward to expanding collaboration across various sectors.



The discussions concluded with both sides agreeing on the necessity of bolstering economic ties and increasing trade and investment opportunities. They also recognized the potential for promoting tourism and cultural exchanges to further solidify their bilateral relations.



The meeting ended with a reaffirmation of the commitment to enhance parliamentary and diplomatic engagement, aiming to strengthen the existing ties between Pakistan and Spain.
