Pakistani and Malaysian Prime Ministers Commit to Strengthening Bilateral Ties and Cooperation


Islamabad: In a significant diplomatic engagement, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan met with his Malaysian counterpart, Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in Islamabad on Thursday. The leaders engaged in deep, outcome-oriented discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation across various sectors.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting was characterized by a warm and cordial atmosphere where the two heads of state explored a broad spectrum of bilateral, regional, and international issues. These discussions particularly focused on challenges facing the Muslim Ummah and the ways in which both nations can achieve tangible results through increased cooperation.



During the discussions, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Malaysia’s upcoming chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025. In return, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim acknowledged Pakistan’s role as an ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner and advocated for stronger engagement between Pakistan and ASEAN, underscoring Pakistan’s growing influence in the region.



Highlighting the historical ties between the two countries, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to a strengthened partnership that benefits both nations. They agreed on the importance of continued dialogue and regular exchanges at all levels to foster a dynamic relationship, citing the roles of the Joint Ministerial Commission and Bilateral Consultations as vital frameworks for future engagements.
