Pakistan Urges Syrian-Led Political Process for Reconstruction and Stability

New York: Pakistan has urged for a Syrian-led political process, emphasizing the need for international support to aid early recovery, reconstruction, and economic stabilization efforts in Syria. This was highlighted during a briefing on Syria’s humanitarian and political situation at the United Nations Security Council.

According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, addressed the council, emphasizing the importance of respecting Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He called for a comprehensive approach to sustainable peace, which should be anchored in inclusive political progress and reinforced by humanitarian and economic measures.

The Ambassador also criticized ongoing Israeli actions in Syria, denouncing them as violations of Syrian sovereignty. He asserted that these incursions and occupations undermine stabilization efforts and called for their cessation to aid in the broader goal of regional stability.
