New York: Pakistan has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Middle East and reaffirmed its commitment to resolving the Iran nuclear issue through peaceful means. The appeal was made by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, during a Security Council briefing on the 1737 Committee concerning Iran.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Ahmad emphasized that diplomacy and dialogue should serve as the core principles for negotiating settlements of all contentious issues, adhering to the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the involved parties. He urged all parties in the Middle East to exercise maximum restraint, avoid further escalation, establish a permanent ceasefire, and resume dialogue.
