Pakistan Urges Global Cooperation Against Terrorism at UN Assembly

New York: Pakistan has urged the international community to adopt a unified and comprehensive approach to combat the contemporary terrorist threat. This call was made by Usman Jadoon, Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, at the Sixth Committee of the UN General Assembly.

According to Radio Pakistan, Jadoon highlighted the terrorist threats emanating from Afghanistan and stressed the need to hold accountable those providing safe havens and financial support to terrorist groups. He specifically pointed out the challenges posed by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which allegedly operate from Afghan territory with Indian support.

Jadoon stated that Pakistan has been forced to conduct precise counter-terrorism operations to dismantle terrorist infrastructure along its western border, targeting TTP and BLA operatives. He emphasized that these strikes are based on credible intelligence and are executed with precision to minimize civilian casualties.

The Ambassador also addressed issues of state terrorism, urging rejection of such acts in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Occupied Palestinian Territory. Furthermore, Jadoon expressed Pakistan’s support for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s stance on the need for a consensus-based Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism, which should differentiate between terrorism and legitimate struggles for self-determination.
