Pakistan Urges Balanced Climate Action and Enhanced Finance at COP31

New York: Pakistan has made a call for balanced climate action and enhanced financial support at the upcoming COP31 conference. Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, stated that the nation plans to offer full and constructive support to the new leadership at COP31, emphasizing that the Antalya Conference must achieve balanced progress in its climate objectives.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ahmad highlighted that Pakistan, despite being at the forefront of the climate crisis and contributing less than one percent to global emissions, is severely impacted by climate change. He stressed that achieving meaningful progress in Antalya will necessitate trust and balance in all aspects of climate action. Ahmad also expressed concerns about recent negative trends in climate finance, underscoring the need for increased support to help vulnerable developing nations adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change.
