New York: Pakistan has urged Afghan authorities to undertake verifiable and irreversible measures against terrorist activities within their borders. This call to action was articulated by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, during a UN Security Council session focused on Afghanistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Ahmad highlighted the impact of the freedom with which terrorist groups operate in Afghanistan, emphasizing that Pakistan has suffered from their activities and the Taliban’s growing connections with these groups. He noted that a notable number of Afghans have been implicated in terrorism within Pakistan, and these groups possess advanced weaponry and sophisticated equipment, including drones.

The Ambassador expressed concern over the Taliban’s return to providing safe havens for terrorist organizations, accusing them of engaging in complicity with external actors. Ahmad affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security, stating that the country will not remain passive in the face of terrorist threats and will respond in self-defense as necessary, in accordance with international law.
