Islamabad: Pakistan is set to host a crucial Peacekeeping Ministerial preparatory meeting in partnership with the Republic of Korea next week. The announcement was made during a United Nations Security Council briefing in New York, where Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, underscored the nation’s ongoing contributions to UN peacekeeping efforts.

Ambassador Ahmad paid tribute to the 4,423 peacekeepers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, including 181 from Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of honoring their memory, courage, and dedication to maintaining global peace and security.

The meeting in Islamabad aims to further international cooperation and collaboration in peacekeeping missions, reflecting Pakistan’s commitment to advancing the objectives of the United Nations.

This preparatory meeting serves as a precursor to the larger Peacekeeping Ministerial conference, highlighting the strategic role that both Pakistan and the Republic of Korea play in supporting the UN’s peacekeeping initiatives.
