Pakistan Returns to International Capital Market with $500 Million Eurobond

Washington D.C.: Pakistan has re-entered the international capital market after a four-year hiatus with the private placement of a $500 million Eurobond, signaling a step towards economic stability, according to Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. The announcement was made during Aurangzeb’s address to the US-based Pakistani media in Washington D.C.

According to Radio Pakistan, Finance Minister Aurangzeb highlighted that this development is a significant milestone in Pakistan’s economic journey, achieved under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. Aurangzeb noted that the confidence of both local and foreign investors in Pakistan’s projects, including the privatization process of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), underscores the country’s progress toward economic stability. Leading business firms played an active role in the PIA privatization, demonstrating investor confidence.

Aurangzeb further stated that the government has facilitated investors with optimal facilities and that Pakistan’s credit rating remains at ‘B Minus,’ affirmed by rating agencies as a reflection of confidence in the country’s structural reforms. Recent meetings with American think tanks and the Pakistani diaspora were described as productive, with the diaspora showing eagerness to support Pakistan’s leadership.

On the regional front, Aurangzeb remarked on the international recognition Pakistan’s leadership has received for its role in the current conflict, describing it as a proud moment for the nation. The Finance Minister emphasized the determination of the country’s military and civilian leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, to see the matter through to its conclusion.
