Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating tuberculosis, HIV, and malaria in collaboration with the Global Fund. He conveyed this commitment during a meeting with a Global Fund delegation led by Mark Edington, Head of the Grant Management Division, in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the Global Fund’s substantial contributions to enhancing public health in developing countries. He emphasized the importance of the partnership in bolstering Pakistan’s healthcare system and outlined efforts to eliminate major diseases such as HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria. Furthermore, Shehbaz Sharif announced the creation of a joint working group to strengthen measures against the spread of HIV.

Officials from the Ministry of National Health Services provided an overview of the government’s initiatives to control and prevent these diseases. The visiting delegation, which included Senior Portfolio Manager Izaskun Gaviria and Deputy General Counsel Natasha Heffinck, expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s hospitality and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the country’s health objectives.
