Riyadh: Pakistan has reiterated its support for Saudi Arabia’s security in the wake of recent regional developments. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir attended an emergency meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement in Riyadh. The meeting focused on issues concerning the security of the Kingdom and regional stability.
According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting endorsed the nomination of retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood as the first Secretary-General of the Makkah Alliance for Defence. The participants strongly condemned the attempted targeting of the Holy Cities of Makkah and Medina, as well as other continued attacks against Saudi Arabia.
In addition, Pakistan, along with Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, exchanged views on recent regional developments, emphasizing their commitment to working closely to ensure peace and stability in the area. Pakistan expressed unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia, affirming its full support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security. The participants reiterated their commitment to making all efforts toward achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
