Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood, emphasizing that the country will stand in solidarity with Palestinians until their rights are fully realized.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari marked the occasion by reflecting on the events of 1948, which led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. He noted that the Nakba remains a continuing reality for the Palestinian people, characterized by ongoing occupation, displacement, and denial of rights.
The President called on the international community to maintain support for the Palestinian people, particularly refugees, emphasizing the importance of fulfilling the Right of Return as affirmed in Resolution 194. He urged nations to uphold international law and support the legitimate rights of Palestinians, advocating for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian question.
Zardari highlighted Pakistan’s consistent advocacy for Palestinian rights at the United Nations and other international forums, driven by principles of justice and international law. He reiterated the call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, unrestricted humanitarian aid, and accountability for Israel’s actions.
In his concluding remarks, President Zardari expressed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
