New York: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, has reiterated the country’s support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. Ahmad emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to providing political, diplomatic, and moral backing to this cause during a recent event in New York.
According to Radio Pakistan, the event was jointly organized by Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations and its Consulate General in New York. Ambassador Ahmad highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to address the Kashmir issue on international platforms and its intent to continue exposing alleged human rights violations in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
Ahmad referred to the actions taken on August 5, 2019, by India as significant, noting that they intensified the existing situation in the region. He asserted that the legal basis of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is supported by the UN Charter and relevant Security Council resolutions.
