Islamabad: Pakistan marked the seventh anniversary of Youm-e-Istehsal by reaffirming its support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and opposing what it describes as illegal Indian occupation. The day serves as a reminder of the ongoing human rights concerns and the push for self-determination for the Kashmiri people, as highlighted by the country’s leadership.

According to Press Information Department, the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, and States and Frontier Regions, Engr Amir Muqam, emphasized the continued oppression faced by the people of IIOJK under Indian occupation. These include restrictions on civil liberties, prolonged detentions, and limitations on freedom of expression and movement. The minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to advocating for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, as outlined in United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The minister commended the courage and resilience of the people in IIOJK in preserving their identity and highlighted the importance of dialogue and adherence to international law in achieving lasting peace. He called on the international community to recognize the Jammu and Kashmir dispute as essential for peace and stability in South Asia and to support a resolution that respects human rights.
