Islamabad: On World Environment Day, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to environmental protection, highlighting the need for global cooperation to address climate change. According to Press Information Department, the Prime Minister’s message aligned with this year’s theme, “Climate Action,” stressing the urgency of coordinated international efforts to combat environmental challenges.

Pakistan faces significant risks from climate change, including floods, droughts, and pollution, despite its minimal contribution to global environmental degradation. The Prime Minister underscored the necessity of joint efforts at all levels to mitigate these impacts and promote a sustainable future.

The Pakistani government is committed to initiatives such as renewable energy promotion, forest restoration, biodiversity conservation, and pollution reduction. The role of the younger generation is seen as crucial in fostering a climate-resilient society. Citizens and institutions are urged to adopt eco-friendly practices and prioritize water and energy conservation, afforestation, and wildlife protection.
