ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Law Minister, Azam Nazeer Tarar, announced that the country’s legislative and ratification process for the Singapore Convention on Mediation is advancing and will soon be presented to Parliament. He made these remarks during a virtual address at the Singapore Convention Week 2026.

According to Radio Pakistan, Minister Tarar explained that Pakistan became the fifty-eighth signatory to the Convention in May 2025. The ratification and subsequent implementation of the Convention will enable mediated settlements reached in Pakistan to be enforceable in all fifty-seven signatory states. This development aims to provide increased assurance for foreign investors.

Minister Tarar emphasized that Pakistan’s participation in the Convention is a strategic move to mitigate litigation risks, safeguard commercial relationships, and bolster confidence in the nation’s investment landscape. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to showcasing the rule of law as a crucial economic advantage rather than a mere bureaucratic requirement.

In his address, the Minister extended gratitude to the Ministry of Law, the Government of Singapore, and the Singapore International Mediation Centre for their support and guidance in this endeavor.
