ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed Pakistan’s commitment to bolstering multilateralism and ensuring the United Nations maintains a central role in addressing global issues. This affirmation came during a meeting with Ms. Michelle Bachelet, a candidate for the position of UN Secretary-General, who visited him in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of upholding the purposes and principles outlined in the United Nations Charter. He emphasized the need for faithful implementation of UN resolutions and international treaties, and the pursuit of balanced progress across the UN’s three pillars: peace and security, development, and human rights.
Prime Minister Sharif also advocated for enhanced international cooperation and increased efforts to accelerate the implementation of the global development agenda, underscoring Pakistan’s support for the UN’s leadership in tackling worldwide challenges.
