The President highlighted the long-term repercussions of the 1986 explosion, which released radiation impacting millions across Belarus, Ukraine, and the Russian Federation.

According to Press Information Department, the President underscored the far-reaching effects of radiation exposure, which do not remain confined to the immediate vicinity of such incidents but extend across regions and generations, affecting public health, the environment, and economic stability. The President pointed to the international cooperation that followed the Chernobyl disaster, noting the critical support provided by the United Nations and partner organizations in aiding affected communities through research, health interventions, and recovery programs.

The message called attention to the lessons learned from the disaster, emphasizing that nuclear safety should not be viewed solely as a technical issue but requires strict oversight and a thorough understanding of associated risks.
