Karachi: The Pakistan Navy has launched Operation Muhafiz-ul-Bahr to address the evolving threats to national shipping and maritime trade. This initiative aims to ensure the uninterrupted flow of energy supplies and the protection of key sea lanes, which are crucial for the nation’s economy.
According to ISPR, the operation has been initiated in response to the changing regional maritime security landscape and potential threats to critical sea lanes. The Pakistan Navy, in collaboration with the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, is conducting escort operations to guarantee the secure transit of merchant vessels. Currently, two merchant ships are being escorted, with one expected to arrive in Karachi today.
With around 90 percent of Pakistan’s trade occurring via sea routes, the operation seeks to maintain the safety and security of these vital channels. The Pakistan Navy remains vigilant and prepared to tackle emerging maritime security challenges, reaffirming its commitment to the safety of national shipping and regional maritime stability.
