Karachi: In a ceremony at Jinnah Naval Base, Ormara, the Pakistan Navy inducted its fourth Offshore Patrol Vessel, PNS YAMAMA, into its fleet. The event marked a strategic enhancement in the Navy’s operational capabilities. Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, attended as the Chief Guest.

PNS YAMAMA, built at DAMEN Shipyard in Romania, is equipped with advanced stealth features, command and control systems, and sophisticated weaponry. This state-of-the-art vessel is designed to operate in multi-threat environments, enhancing the Navy’s seaward defense and ability to protect Sea Lines of Communication.

The induction emphasizes the Navy’s increased operational reach on the western seaboard, contributing to maritime security and regional stability. It also underscores the importance of protecting maritime infrastructure, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Admiral Ashraf addressed the ceremony, highlighting the strategic challenges in the Indian Ocean. He stressed the need for a robust naval force to address both traditional and non-traditional threats. The addition of PNS YAMAMA, he noted, strengthens the Navy’s commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime frontiers and ensuring international maritime safety.

Acknowledging the craftsmanship of DAMEN Shipyard Galati, Admiral Ashraf praised the project team for their work, which reflects the strong bilateral relations between Pakistan and Romania.

The ceremony was attended by government officials, local dignitaries, and senior officers of the Pakistan Navy.
