Dhaka, The High Commission for Pakistan in Dhaka commemorated Pakistan’s National Day with a ceremonial flag hoisting, led by High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maroof. The event, attended by members of the Pakistani diaspora, local media, and commission staff, celebrated the pivotal moment in 1940 when the vision for an independent homeland for Muslims was articulated under Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s leadership.
According to Press Information Department, the ceremony featured the national anthem and the hoisting of Pakistan’s flag, symbolizing the nation’s unity and the enduring legacy of its founders. Messages from Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar were shared, reflecting on the day’s historical significance and its implications for future generations.
The High Commissioner, in his address, extended heartfelt felicitations to Pakistanis worldwide and particularly to those in Bangladesh and Bhutan. He paid homage to the relentless struggle that led to the creation of Pakistan and emphasized March 23 as a day for reflection and recommitment to the ideals envisioned by the nation’s founders.
