Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum Sets Stage for Mining Advancement

Islamabad: The Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum has established a foundation for a new phase of mining, focusing on responsible and sustainable practices, according to Ahmed Hayat Lak, Managing Director of the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL).

During the forum’s concluding session in Islamabad, Lak stated that Pakistan’s mineral wealth is complemented by a readiness to attract investors. He advocated for the development of an industry that is both profitable and purposeful, underscoring the importance of collaboration.

Lak praised the Special Investment Facilitation Council and other departments for their support in organizing the forum, which aimed to bolster investment in Pakistan’s mining sector.

The forum also featured a presentation from representatives of Reko Diq Mining Company, who provided insights into the feasibility study for the Reko Diq project. The project is poised to become a major global player in copper and gold production.

The company representatives projected that copper and gold production at Reko Diq would commence in 2028. They detailed the processes and infrastructure planned for extracting these resources, highlighting the project’s potential impact on the global stage.
