Islamabad: On the occasion of Constitution Day, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized the importance of adhering to the Constitution and maintaining democratic traditions as the foundation for national development and stability. He highlighted the significance of April 10, 1973, when a consensus Constitution was approved, marking a pivotal moment in Pakistan’s history.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq congratulated the nation, noting that the 1973 Constitution has been instrumental in ensuring national unity, public rights, and institutional stability. He praised the political leadership of that era for coming together to establish a constitutional framework that continues to underpin Pakistan’s democratic system and national identity.

The Speaker stressed the Constitution’s role as the supreme law of the state, delineating governance, institutional powers, and citizen rights and responsibilities. He reaffirmed the current Parliament’s dedication to enhancing legislation for public welfare and promoting efficient governance.

Sadiq called for unity among political forces to tackle national challenges, drawing inspiration from the collaborative spirit of the 1973 Assembly. He also underscored the importance of educating younger generations about the Constitution’s principles and their role in national development.

Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah echoed these sentiments, describing April 10, 1973, as a symbol of Pakistan’s democratic sovereignty under the leadership of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He highlighted the constitutional services of the 1973 Assembly, urging the continued upholding of the Constitution for the nation’s development and protection of public rights.
