Islamabad: The Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) has achieved a milestone by securing a position on the interim steering committee of the Global Parliamentary Training Institutes (PTIs). This development, under the leadership of Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Chairman Senate of Pakistan, and Asim Khan Goraya, Executive Director of PIPS, places Pakistan alongside the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and five other countries, including Angola, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, and Thailand.

According to the Senate of Pakistan, PIPS has also been chosen to host the second Global Conference of PTIs in Islamabad, scheduled from February 3rd to 5th, 2027, in collaboration with the IPU. These decisions came during the inaugural PTIs conference held in March 2026 in Accra, Ghana, which the PIPS team attended virtually due to travel cancellations in line with the Pakistani Prime Minister’s austerity measures.

These developments underline Pakistan’s role in international parliamentary cooperation and legislative capacity development. Hosting the upcoming conference will allow Pakistan to display its progress in parliamentary institutional development and foster collaboration with global parliamentary training bodies.
