Islamabad: Pakistan and Japan have agreed to explore new avenues of collaboration across several key sectors including infrastructure, human resource development, digital transformation, tourism, and sustainable economic growth. This commitment emerged following a meeting between Pakistan’s Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Dr. Tanaka Akihiko, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), held in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, during the meeting, Ahsan Iqbal expressed his appreciation for Japan’s longstanding Official Development Assistance to Pakistan. He commended JICA’s ongoing support in several areas such as infrastructure, energy, water resources, health, education, agriculture, and disaster risk management.
Dr. Tanaka Akihiko, speaking at the occasion, reaffirmed Japan’s dedication to strengthening its development partnership with Pakistan. He underscored the importance of close coordination between JICA and Pakistan’s Ministry of Planning to develop high-impact projects aligned with URAAN Pakistan, a development initiative aimed at enhancing the country’s progress in various critical sectors.
