Pakistan High Commission in Canada Marks Kashmir Black Day with Solidarity Events

Ottawa: The High Commission of Pakistan in Ottawa, along with the Consulates General in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, organized events for Kashmir Black Day to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in their struggle for self-determination.

According to Press Information Department, the event at the High Commission featured a documentary screening, photographic exhibition, and remarks by human rights supporters. These activities highlighted the Kashmir dispute and the challenges faced by civilians in IIOJK due to Indian occupation forces. Messages from Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister were read, conveying the country’s diplomatic and moral support for IIOJK’s right to self-determination, as outlined in UN Security Council resolutions.

High Commissioner Muhammad Saleem addressed the participants, emphasizing the Jammu & Kashmir dispute’s longstanding presence on the UN Security Council agenda. He urged international and human rights organizations to condemn violations in IIOJK and work towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict. Kashmir Black Day serves to denounce the occupation of Jammu & Kashmir since 1947 and to reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to highlighting the dispute and supporting IIOJK’s aspirations for self-determination.
