Pakistan High Commission and Bank of Punjab Host Event to Boost Diaspora Investments

London: The Pakistan High Commission in London, in collaboration with The Bank of Punjab, organized an event titled “Unlocking Diaspora Capital” on June 22, 2026, aimed at strengthening economic engagement and exploring investment opportunities for overseas Pakistanis. The gathering sought to reaffirm the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to its diaspora by promoting the Roshan Digital Account (RDA) as a financial gateway for investment, savings, and charitable giving.

According to Senate of Pakistan, the event drew a significant number of overseas Pakistanis and highlighted emerging Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) opportunities across various sectors of Pakistan’s economy. Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, emphasized the critical role of overseas Pakistanis in national development, applauding their contributions through remittances and investments.

Senator Chishti stressed the importance of building stronger institutional mechanisms to facilitate diaspora investment, citing the success of initiatives like the Roshan Digital Account in promoting direct participation in Pakistan’s economic growth. He urged the diaspora to leverage available investment opportunities and support the country’s development agenda.

The event also featured addresses from Mr. Haseeb bin Aziz, Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan to the United Kingdom, and Mr. Zafar Masud, President and CEO of The Bank of Punjab. They discussed the government’s efforts to enhance financial inclusion for overseas Pakistanis and showcased investment opportunities in Pakistan. Participants welcomed continued engagement with the Government of Pakistan and financial institutions to unlock the potential of diaspora capital for sustainable economic growth.
