Islamabad, Pakistan has categorically rejected reports and speculations regarding any dialogue with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The clarification came from Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch during her weekly briefing in Islamabad today, where she addressed various regional and international issues.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Baloch emphasized that no negotiations are underway with the TTP. This statement comes amidst media speculations about potential talks with the militant group. The spokesperson also commented on the recent terror attack in Dera Ismail Khan, noting that the interim Afghan government has pledged to investigate the incident. She called for strong action against the perpetrators and urged the Afghan authorities to hand them over to Pakistan, along with the TTP leadership based in Afghanistan.
The Foreign Office Spokesperson stressed the need for Afghanistan to take concrete and verifiable steps to prevent its soil from being used for terrorist activities against Pakistan. She linked recent terror incidents in Pakistan to elements within the TTP or its affiliates who have sanctuaries in Afghanistan.
Additionally, the spokesperson addressed the issue of Jammu and Kashmir in light of the recent endorsement by the Indian Supreme Court of India’s actions in 2019. She stated that the Indian Supreme Court has no jurisdiction over Jammu and Kashmir, which is recognized as a disputed territory internationally. The resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, she added, will be in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Pakistan’s commitment to extending support to the Kashmiri cause was reiterated.
On a global front, the spokesperson welcomed the UN General Assembly’s resolution for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza. She highlighted this as a reflection of international consensus and public outrage against Israeli atrocities in Palestine. She condemned the increasing Israeli violence in the West Bank, as well as attacks against Lebanon and Syria, labeling them as breaches of these countries’ territorial sovereignty.
Baloch’s statements at the briefing provided a comprehensive overview of Pakistan’s stance on key regional and international issues, reaffirming the country’s position on matters of national and global importance.
