Saudi Arabia: Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, has highlighted Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 as an exemplary model for economic reform, emphasizing its relevance for Pakistan. Speaking at the AlUla Conference for Emerging Market Economies, Aurangzeb underscored the importance of the Kingdom’s leadership in regional economic transformation as a source of valuable lessons for his own country’s economic development.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Aurangzeb, in an interview with Arab News, lauded Saudi Arabia’s expanding influence and its progressive economic reforms under Vision 2030. He noted Pakistan’s current structural reforms in pursuit of macroeconomic stability and acknowledged the potential benefits of learning from Saudi Arabia’s experiences.
Aurangzeb also highlighted the increasing Saudi investments in Pakistan, particularly in the business-to-business sector. He pointed to initiatives such as Saudi Aramco’s entry into the downstream petroleum industry and ongoing discussions about government-to-government agreements as positive developments.
The Finance Minister identified opportunities to enhance exports from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia, particularly in the skilled labor sector, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s workforce expansion under Vision 2030. Aurangzeb expressed gratitude for the support Pakistan has received from Saudi Arabia, especially in relation to the International Monetary Fund program.
He further described the AlUla Conference as a significant platform for multilateral discussions on economic resilience and cooperation among emerging economies.
