Pakistan Faces Climate Crisis Head-On, Says Minister at Earth Hour Event


Islamabad: Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, addressed the nation during Earth Hour, emphasizing that Pakistan, as a frontline state in the global climate crisis, must go beyond symbolic gestures to tackle the pressing environmental challenges it faces.



According to Press Information Department, Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted the country’s vulnerability to climate change, pointing to catastrophic floods, unpredictable weather patterns, and melting glaciers as evidence of the urgent need for action. He called for a shift toward sustainable development, emphasizing green infrastructure and effective connectivity in the energy sector to protect the environment for future generations.



Abdul Aleem Khan urged the public to adopt environmentally friendly practices, such as reducing energy consumption and conserving water. He also outlined efforts to incorporate climate resilience into road networks and communication corridors to ensure infrastructure can withstand future challenges. He concluded by urging that the symbolic act of turning off lights during Earth Hour should inspire a year-round commitment to environmental protection.
