ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office has announced its active engagement with the United States and Iran to promote peace and stability in the region, as articulated during a recent briefing. Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi emphasized the ongoing diplomatic efforts, stating that Pakistan is committed to facilitating direct negotiations between the two nations to achieve a negotiated settlement and foster stable relations.

According to Radio Pakistan, Andrabi highlighted that Pakistan’s diplomatic channels are fully operational and that all communications are conducted with transparency. Additionally, he condemned the unprovoked firing and shelling by Afghan forces in South Waziristan, assuring that efforts are underway to protect local populations and prevent further conflicts.

Addressing other regional concerns, Andrabi expressed dismay over the detention of Kashmiri leaders Yasin Malik and Shabbir Ahmed Shah, urging the international community to pressure India for their release. He also criticized India’s actions in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the ban on the Jamia Siraj-ul-Uloom, as part of a broader agenda that undermines the cultural and religious identity of the Kashmiri people. Andrabi pointed to a rise in Islamophobia and far-right agendas in the region, calling for global attention to these issues.
