New York: Pakistan is actively working to mediate the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran, according to a statement delivered at the United Nations Security Council. Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, underscored the nation’s commitment to facilitating dialogue and promoting mediation efforts aimed at reducing hostilities between the two countries.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Ahmad made these remarks during a Security Council debate focused on advancing political solutions in the Middle East. He emphasized the necessity of a comprehensive and peaceful resolution to the issues for achieving enduring peace and stability in the region.
During the same debate, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his gratitude to Pakistan for its active role in mediating the conflict between Iran and the US. He called on all involved parties to adhere to the ceasefire, underscoring the importance of continued dialogue and diplomatic engagement.
