Islamabad, In the aftermath of the Iranian attack on Pakistan on January 16, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs briefed the Caretaker Federal Cabinet on the evolving situation and Pakistan’s response.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the briefing occurred during a Federal Cabinet meeting led by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar. The Cabinet commended the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces in responding to the breach of sovereignty and the coordinated efforts of the government machinery in this matter.
Addressing the Cabinet, Prime Minister Kakar reinforced Pakistan’s stance as a law-abiding, peace-loving nation, emphasizing the country’s desire for friendly and cooperative relations with all countries, especially its neighbors. He highlighted the historical brotherhood and cooperation between Pakistan and Iran, marked by mutual respect and affection.
The Prime Minister expressed that restoring the relationship with Iran to its previous status, prior to the January 16 incident, is in the best interest of both nations. He conveyed Pakistan’s openness and readiness to reciprocate any positive measures from the Iranian side to this end.
This meeting and the Prime Minister’s statements underscore Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful and constructive international relations, particularly in the context of recent tensions with Iran.
