Pakistan Embarks on Digital Transformation, Minister of State for IT Announces


Islamabad: Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, announced that Pakistan is taking significant steps towards digital transformation. This statement came during a meeting with the Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan, Jemal Beker Abdula, highlighting a joint commitment to enhancing technological ties between the two countries.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Khawaja emphasized the ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting digital payments within Pakistan to spur economic growth and enhance operational efficiencies. The discussions underscored the government’s dedication to transitioning Pakistan into a cashless economy, which would streamline transactions and broaden financial inclusivity across the nation.



During the meeting, the potential benefits of Pakistan’s growing expertise in information and communications technology were also discussed. Minister Khawaja offered insights into how Ethiopia could leverage Pakistan’s experiences and advancements in ICT for its own developmental goals.



The Ethiopian Ambassador expressed his country’s eagerness to deepen bilateral relations in IT and telecommunications. He showed particular interest in utilizing Pakistan’s experiences in developing ICT infrastructure to accelerate Ethiopia’s digital journey.



Both parties acknowledged the critical role of digitalization in modern governance and economic development, and Minister Khawaja assured Pakistan’s full support to Ethiopia in its digitalization efforts. This meeting marks a step forward in strengthening IT and telecommunication collaborations between Pakistan and Ethiopia, potentially leading to more robust economic and technological exchanges in the future.
