Pakistan Day Commemorated at Westminster Abbey with Special Evensong Service


London, In a distinctive recognition, Westminster Abbey held a Special Evensong service today to mark Pakistan Day, continuing its tradition of honoring the national days of Commonwealth countries. The service featured special prayers for the prosperity of Pakistan and the strengthening of bilateral relations with the United Kingdom. A significant number of British citizens, churchgoers, and officials from the Pakistan High Commission attended the ceremony, which was highlighted by the hoisting of Pakistan’s flag atop the abbey’s north tower.



According to Press Information Department, this annual event is an invitation from Westminster Abbey to the Pakistan High Commission to join in prayers for Pakistan’s nation, its leaders, and people on Pakistan Day. The Abbey, a royal church known for its daily services open to all and its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracted attention from international tourists, especially with Pakistan’s flag flying on its north tower. Westminster Abbey’s rich history, spanning over a thousand years, and its role as a site of national celebration and mourning, make this gesture of flying Pakistan’s flag a notable acknowledgment of the ties between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
